ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT

Hon. Apple Marie A Agolong
Councilor

Brief Personal Profile Of
HON. APPLE MARIE ADASA ACAYLAR-AGOLONG

In a place where practically everyone is given a major role of public service, it is sheer providence that there reigns a name with initials of square A’s. She’s been discovered as somebody who owns every alas in the playing cards! A woman whom some, if not all looked up to, even the kids. She is APPLE MARIE ADASA ACAYLAR-AGOLONG commonly known by friends and political colleagues and supporters as Madam Apple. She’s no Spanish-snobbish Seńora as others might think, but she deserves to be formally addressed as such, considering her accomplishments in public service, which in every way benefited her subordinates – the Dapitanons. Especially so, that she’s now serving as one of the Sangguniang Panlungsod members of Dapitan City.

Honorable Apple Marie A. Agolong, an opinionated and smart councilor is happily married to an Educator, Joseph Alvi N. Agolong, an Elementary School Principal of a private school in the city.

They have been gifted with two lovable angels, Amanda Elley A. Agolong, a 10-year old pretty girl and Joseph Ryan A. Agolong, a 5-year old “whiz” whom he undoubtedly attained from her mom.

One could somehow conclude that the passion and love for her family were being extended to the people of her city whom she is served well.

Even at a very young age, Hon. Agolong accomplished more in public service where she co-founded the “KAPARIZ” (Kabataang Para kay Rizal) in Dapitan City, a service and talent oriented organization for the youth. A bonafide member of the Upsilon Phi Sigma fraternity/sorority and a member of the Portia sorority during her Law Course in Silliman University, Dumaguete City. She was once the secretary and now the Vice President of the International organization, the Rotary Club-Dapitan City Chapter.

A couple of years before she won the 2004 elections as City Councilor, she served the local government of Dapitan as the Private Secretary II of the then City Mayor Rodolfo H. Carreon, Jr. and later on appointed as the City Information Officer III on which it was during her management that was considered a breakthrough of the City Information Division (CID).

Aside from the usual daily press releases of CID and documentation of pertinent data of the administration and of Dapitan City, she spearheaded various activities of the city which are really and truly beneficial to the public. Tourism wise, she was behind the publication of Dapitan on the national paper, Manila Times at no cost at all to the local government. During her supervision the CID released series of issues of newsletter “Ang Dapitan Karon” including souvenir program of the 39th and 40th celebration of the Charter of Dapitan on which they presented the city with glamour and so much pride.

As the City Information Officer, Apple expounded her task and brought the DFA Consular Office Region IX to Dapitan City and aided the success of various Mobile Passport Processing and Release right in Dapitan City that benefited not only the people of Dapitan and the nearby places but contributed extra income to the city posting justifiable service charge to every applicant. Moreover, the CID assisted the PRC license renewal and LET examination application in Dapitan City.

She is also responsible of bringing the local government closer to the people in the barangays through the project “Barangay to Barangay Information Dissemination Campaign on Proper Waste Management and Peace and Order” and the “Continuous Barangay to Barangay Information Dissemination on Waste Segregation and Recycling Scheme.  Her advocacy on waste management didn’t limit on information drive but she together with her staff conducted the 1st “Kwarta sa Basura” contest (recycled product inter-barangay contest) which encouraged people throughout the city including the city officials to appreciate the value of re-using and recycling wastes. The CID was also the banner-bearer of the success of Medical/Dental Outreach to the Barangays during the administration of Mayor Carreon.

Help for the needy linger on her veins, that even beyond her task as the City Information Officer she aided the complete operation of a hydrocephalus case of a 3-year old boy of Dapitan City through fund-raising and finally through the Bantay Bata Foundation of ABS-CBN.

The series of public service encouraged Apple Agolong to run for a legislative position hoping that she could squarely serve Dapitan as a councilor. And with the aid of her parents, Elsa Adasa Ennen and Bradley Ryan Ennen, his stepfather, who financed his campaign during the recently concluded elections as well as defraying his expenses in Law School. It seems Apple Agolong can do no failure: she’s accomplished more at her early months of assumption as a legislator. Once again, now a councilor, she aided another fund-raising for a meningitis case of a 12-year old kid and solicited amount for the treatment where she personally appeared over the radio and local paper and send solicitation letters to the senators.

In the city council, every regular session would never be complete without her charming smile putting ease to the burden of the councilmen. She chaired the very sensitive Committee on Tourism and Sub-Committee on International and Domestic Relations, and a member of the Committees on Health and Sanitation, Science and Technology, Child’s Welfare, Culture and Arts and Women and Family Relations.

Hon. Apple Marie A. Agolong resides at 77 Rizal Avenue, Bagting, Dapitan City and you can contact her at telephone number (065) 213-6346. As such, Councilor Agolong made it clear; she’s not merely for political affairs but can be considered an all around servant.

With the existence of the most crucial program of the present administration headed by HON. DOMINADOR G. JALOSJOS, JR., the task force LUPAD, a massive anti-illegal drug campaign, Hon. Agolong is the favorite speaker in the barangays in the absence of the city mayor. Although she’s not connected with any committee concerning peace and order but she consider herself the greatest peace and order advocate bringing up the belief that communities would never prosper if its people are not safe.
