BRIEF PERSONAL PROFILE OF
HON. PETE TUMAPON ZAMORA
Atty. Pete T. Zamora is at present the
No.1 City Councilor of Dapitan City. Young, idealistic
and religious, he hesitantly ran for the first time in
the May, 2004 Election upon the prodding of the youth
and the parents who perhaps saw in him the qualities
of an ideal leader, and ended up the first in the race
of 29 candidates consisting of highly qualified
individuals and, some veteran public servants. When
interviewed once about his astonishing feat of a
neophyte he humbly referred to it “Divine Design”.
In the elementary grades, he was a
consistent top pupil and garnered countless medals and
citations for various academic and skills competition.
He graduated as class Valedictorian.
It was in high school that his
leadership skills started to show up. He was elected
for unprecedented two terms as Student Council
President. Young as he was at that time, he began
reaping awards for leadership excellence. We was again
a consistent top student and also garnered countless
medals and citations for various academic and skills
competitions. He again graduated as class
Valedictorian.
He earned his undergraduate degree from
San Beda College (Manila) where he was a scholar. His
leadership skills were further honed by the various
collegiate organizations he led and/or joined. His
hunger for more education parallel with his compelling
desire to succeed in life led him to enroll in law
school. In Southwestern University College of Law (Cebu
City), he was elected as College Governor and was at
the same time member of its distinguished debating
team. He also founded the Student Power Coalition
which has been very vocal with important campus, local
and national issues. He graduated with the Highest
Grade Average in April, 2002 and was awarded with the
Dean’s Gold Medal for Leadership Excellence and for
being an Outstanding Debater. He was also chosen by
the Supreme Student Government of Southwestern
University as the Most Outstanding College Governor of
School Year 2001-2002. He took the Philippine Bar
Examination in September. 2002 and made it on his
first try.
Councilor Pete T. Zamora is currently
Chairman of the Committee of Human Rights and Good
Government and the Committee on Ways and Means of the
Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dapitan city. Presently
also, he is the secretary of the Rotary Club of
Dapitan and has been elected as its incoming president
for the year 2005-2006.
A champion of the youth and the poor,
Hon. Pete Zamora vows to zealously adhere to his
guiding principle in Public Service---“Kang Atty. Pete
Zamora No.1 and Katawhan (For Atty. Pete Zamora the
People are No.1)”. |
