A Profile of a Leader
Mayor Dominador G. Jalosjos, Jr. is still
in the first year of his term in public office but there are
already the emerging signs of leadership indicating
positively that he will become a dynamic leader in just a
matter of time. With his development programs well laid for
implementation we can expect a wider horizon with progress
unlimited.
Both from religious parents, Mayor Jun as
he is fondly called is a pious devotee of the Roman Catholic
faith. A student of Ateneo de Zamboanga in his college days
and later transferred to the University of Visayas where he
was a member of the vaunted UV Basketball Varsity Team.
As a person at the helm of the City
Government he is like a good father to a family full of
development plans for the economic alleviation to every
Dapitanon. A project oriented type of a leader he is busy
placing Dapitan City back to the road map of various
development projects. Top priority projects are identified
and the first to come up is the Sunrise Boulevard to
complement the Sunset Boulevard that now exists. The Pitusan
steel bridge is now in the implementation stage, Sigayan
Phase II steel bridge will follow. The Kalamucso steel
bridge is next to come up to materialize the long clamor of
four barangays at the other side of Kalamucso River.
Projects like the conversion of the city proper to become a
Cultural Heritage Center in the country, protection of the
environment and aqua marine products, wildlife preservation,
a cable car from historic Ilihan Hill to the Rizal’s Shrine
are projects in tow.
Soft-spoken Mayor Jun is approachable and
has a deep concern of the plight of the people in the
hinterlands and mountain fastnesses who have been bonded for
a long time with misery.
Remove Mayor Jun from Dapitan and it is
like Paris without Eiffel Tower, like Egypt without
Pyramids, like China without the great Wall and like Kuala
Lumpur without the Petronas Towers.
