INDAK PINOY DAPITAN DANCE TROUPE,
ALWAYS ON THE GO!

If we are going to talk about the busiest people in this year’s Dapitan City Kinabayo Festival, one of which is the Indak Pinoy Dance Troupe. People always talk about the postponement of their Cultural Show that was supposed to be last July 15, 2005, back to back presentation with the Shrine City Ballet, but it was re-scheduled this coming December 2005 because their concentration now is on their excessive rehearsals for the Kinabayo Festival Street dancing and Dance Showdown.

The Indak Pinoy Dance Troupe poses after winning 2nd place in the 2003 Kinabayo Festival Final Showdown.

Indak Pinoy Dance Troupe, with Mrs. Henedina Rocamora as their instructor, were separated from the Jose Rizal Memorial State College (JRMSC) dance troupe and started to accept members from the different schools of the city of Dapitan, in the year 2000.

Their great concern is to entertain and impress people from different places by performing different kinds of Cultural Dance of the Philippines. Being accredited by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), they see to it that they could perform at least twice a year, to harness their skills in dancing and to be known to the whole Philippine archipelago in the near future.

Showcasing their different cultural dance in the 2003 WOW Philippines in held in Intramuros, Manila.

Their sacrifices and great effort brought them to different Workshops and Cultural Shows such as, the presentation in the WOW PHILIPPINES, Intramuros, 2003; Cagayan, Mindanao Dance Workshop last January 2005 and several Cultural shows in Dapitan and in neighboring cities.

An unforgettable souvenir shot with respected showbiz personality Douglas Quijano during the Mindanao Dance Seminar-Workshop held in Cagayan de Oro City last January 2005.

Their dancers are outstanding students hailing from the different schools of Dapitan from Grade IV up to College. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are their rehearsal schedules. Despite of some hardships with regards to their financial status, budget for their costumes and props in every presentation, they have remained steadfast. Their funding by the way mostly comes from the different Invitational Shows that they have participated all throughout this time.
